Cucamonga Pete
In the long history of the literary world, there has never been a pro jock caddie as the protagonist/hero.
“Cucamonga Pete” is a feel good story that looks at the life of an orphaned caddie turned Vietnam War hero who can’t overcome his war atrocities and guilt… until a 16 year-old girl caddie sets him straight.
There’s a great friendship bond among caddies — like a real world fraternity — full of humor, tomfoolery and wisdom-sharing among a motley group of characters.
A Captivating New Novel about a Heroic Caddie
Author Rick Phillips’s new book “Cucamonga Pete” is a captivating story of a Vietnam hero overcoming his war traumas to find humor and happiness among his caddie friends at the caddy shack.

A CRITICAL REVIEW OF CUCAMONGA PETE
Cucamonga Pete is an absolutely unique character in literature. He’s cheerful; he’s funny, and he brings out the humor in everything he does. He just does things differently.
His war-time heroics have set him back some, but it’s his friendships at the caddy shack that allow him to find happiness and success
Pete shows us how to appreciate the small things in life. Especially friendships. And how anyone can turn his life around and find joy.
Caddies are renowned for sitting around and solving the world’s problems while waiting for their golfers to show up. Pete and his pals make the caddy shack comedy central. Yet, there’s an important lesson of life here, too.
Cucamonga Pete is the kind of read that makes you feel you know the characters and can empathize with each of them. - William Bradley
